What is the best sequel you have read so far in 2020? THE QUEEN’S PERIL by E.K. Johnston, although it’s technically a prequel.
What is a new release that you haven’t read yet but want to? MEXICAN GOTHIC by Silvia Moreno-Garcia.
What is your most anticipated release for the second half of the year? Don’t judge me, but I really want to take a look at Stephanie Meyer’s MIDNIGHT SUN.
What was your biggest disappointing book so far? CINDERELLA IS DEAD. I loved the premise but was confused and felt weighed down by the plot and writing. Read my review here.
What was your biggest surprising book so far? The ALEX & ELIZA trilogy by Melissa de la Cruz. LOVE & WAR, the second book in the trilogy, is my favorite and I actually started reading that book before reading the first and third installments. I knew nothing about Alexander Hamilton’s life before reading these books (I haven’t watched ‘Hamilton’ yet – although now I want to!) and found him to be such a romantic character.
Who is your favorite new author (debut or new to you)? Ruta Sepetys. I read THE FOUNTAINS OF SILENCE and fell in love with her storytelling.
Who is your newest favorite character? Padmé Amidala from E.K. Johnston’s books, although Padmé has always been my favorite character in Star Wars: Episodes I-III.
Who is your new fictional crush? Alex.
What books made you cry? The ALEX & ELIZA trilogy, I cried at least once during every book, sometimes several times.
What is one book that made you happy? LOVE & WAR. It inspired me.
What is the most beautiful book you have bought or received so far this year? The two hardcover editions of THE QUEEN’S SHADOW and THE QUEEN’S PERIL by E.K. Johnston.
What books do you need to read by the end of the year? MASTER & APPRENTICE by Claudia Gray, about Qui-Jong Inn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, and LANCELOT by Giles Kristian. I’m a huge fan of both Star Wars and Arthurian Myth.
